Babes of Bass Interview #2: Sippy
Same Same But Different Festival was a powerhouse of female talent, including Australian-born, bass music producer Sippy. While on the ground at SSBD, Bass n Babes founder Baby Kush had a chance to chat with Sippy and learn more about her journey and inspirations. Check it out!
Baby Kush: Who are women who have inspired you to create?
Sippy: Rezz was a really big one, I saw her very much doing her own thing and I just thought that was really cool, she was paving her own way. I really respected it.
Baby Kush: What is something you wish you knew before you started your artistic journey?
Sippy: It's about the long term. You want to be in this industry for as long as you can be, focusing on longevity I think is really going to help you go far.
Baby Kush: Do you have a most memorable fan interaction?
Sippy: A group of fans, now probably like my fifth or sixth time seeing them, it's like I'm coming to see my friends.
Baby Kush: Dream back to back set?
Sippy: It would be really fun to play with Rusko. He has so much energy and I feel like I could jump around and play some old school sort of stuff.
Baby Kush: Do you have any advice for young women who are aspiring DJs/producers?
Sippy: If there's ever a time to give it a go, itโs now. Really go for it. Reach out and use the resources around you. Hit me up or any other female producers and DJs that you can. Trust yourself and trust your ability. Don't rely on other people to give you that confidence. Just really trust yourself and trust your gut.
Baby Kush: What do you want your legacy to be?
Sippy: I want to have a positive impact on people. It doesn't need to be a lot of people or on the masses, I just want to be kind of brightness and positivity for people.
