Babes of Bass Interview #3: Bad Snacks
Same Same But Different Festival had so many incredible women on their lineup, one of them being Bad Snacks. While on the ground at SSBD, Bass n Babes founder Baby Kush had a chance to chat with Bad Snacks and learn more about her journey and inspirations. Check it out!
Baby Kush: Who are women who have left a mark on your artistic journey?
Bad Snacks: The first names that come to mind are Tokimonsta and Kimbra, those are artists that I really admire so much. Especially Tokimonsta because she started in an instrumental Hip Hop Realm and moved into EDM. I really resonate with that so much since that’s what I am starting to do.
Baby Kush: Do you have any advice that you would tell your younger self?
Bad Snacks: Just create and create and create. Find your voice, trust the process, trust your instincts and trust yourself.
Baby Kush: What is your dream back to back?
Bad Snacks: Bonobo and Floating Points. I’m obsessed with both of them because I always really appreciate artists with a lot of range.
Baby Kush: What do you want to tell young women who are aspiring to be music producers?
Bad Snacks: You have to really trust yourself. There are resources out there, Femme House is one of them. Finding those kind of collectives is so important, they are amazing kickstart programs.
Baby Kush: Do you have a most memorable fan interaction?
Bad Snacks: They were messages that were sent to me. This guy messaged me where he was like “hey I just wanted to let you know, I'm coming to your shows tonight and I'm bringing this girl - this is going to be our first date.” Two years later he hit me up to tell me that they were engaged! And they invited me their party!
Baby Kush: What do you want your legacy to be as an artist?
Bad Snacks: She did what she wanted too and she got a lot of fun doing it! I love so many different styles of music and especially getting into DJing and realizing that I can take a little bit of everything. There are no rules.
